BIO4EEB will take part in EU Green Week 2026 through the RECAP cluster’s first joint workshop, “From End-of-Life to Lease-of-Life: Circularity in Action”, taking place on 3 June 2026 at NTNU Brussels and online.
Organised as an EU Green Week Partner Event, the workshop will bring together five Horizon Europe projects working on circularity, material recovery, bio-based solutions and advanced processes. Under the RECAP cluster — Rethinking End-of-Life through Circularity and Advanced Processes — the event will explore how innovative approaches can help extend the life of materials, reduce waste and support more sustainable value chains across different sectors.
A joint workshop on circularity in action
The workshop will open with a presentation of the RECAP cluster, followed by a series of project presentations from CompSTLar, BIO4EEB, iBot4CRMs, ICARUS and Wood2Wood.
Each project will bring a specific perspective on circularity, from digital twins and circular manufacturing in aerospace to industrial waste valorisation, construction and demolition waste recovery, and bio-based materials for buildings.
By bringing these projects together, the event will offer a broader view of how circular economy principles can be translated into practical solutions. It will also create a space for exchange between researchers, industry representatives, project partners and stakeholders interested in the future of sustainable materials and circular processes.
BIO4EEB’s contribution
As part of the workshop, BIO4EEB will present its work on circular and bio-based insulation materials designed to enhance the energy performance of buildings.
The presentation, titled “Demonstrating Circular and Bio-Based Insulation Materials for Enhancing the Energy Performance of Buildings”, will be delivered by Fernando Sigchos Jiménez, Secretary General of the European Builders Confederation.
His contribution will highlight how circular and bio-based solutions can support the building sector in addressing key sustainability challenges, including energy efficiency, material use and the transition towards more environmentally responsible construction practices.
This is especially relevant at a time when Europe is working to improve the performance of its building stock, reduce environmental impacts and support more sustainable renovation and construction pathways.
From project presentations to shared discussion
After the project presentations, the workshop will continue with a panel discussion and closing remarks. This session will provide an opportunity to connect the different project perspectives and discuss how circularity can move from research and demonstration to wider implementation.
The event will conclude with networking drinks and a buffet lunch, giving participants the chance to continue the conversation and build connections with other organisations working on circular economy and sustainable innovation.
